8 months

Oh my goodness!!!!  I can't believe it!!!

8 months, that means only 4 more and I can't call you a baby, sad.

This month flew by.  I don't really even know where to start cause it seemed like yesterday it was January.

You are pretty easy now, just plop you on the floor with a toy and you are good to go.  I am honestly trying to not encourage the crawling thing. I know that is not what a good mom would do, but I just know how active you'll be once you can crawl.  You are just so easy now.

You will get up on your knees and rock back and forth, which everyone says is the beginning of crawling. I do think it is funny when you plop down on your belly and kick your feet like your swimming, pretty cute.

It seems like you have been teething all month. You drool, don't eat, and have been running a slight fever for weeks now.  I sure hope those top teeth come in very very soon.  Thank goodness you are still sleeping good at night.

We switched you to size 3 diapers. Yes, I think you could still fit in size 2, but we had a box of 3 that someone had gave us, so we figured we'd give it a try.

You still put your hands on your head when you are getting sleepy.  So cute!!!

You have started saying more consonant sounds. One morning it sounded like you repeating "hey."  We'd say it and I promise you sounded just like it. I wouldn't say that was your first word, but I definitely think one will be very soon.

You love watching Maggie and other kids.  You just stare at them and seem to be so content around them.

You prefer newspaper and magazines over toys.

The weather has been gorgeous the past few weeks, in the 60s and 70s.  We put your swing up in the backyard.  You just love being outside.  Whether it is swinging, walking, or just playing in your exersaucer on the porch it seems to relax you.

You seem  to have a pretty consistent morning and afternoon nap. You usually go right back to sleep once we drop you off at Kristen's.  You might take a short 45 min. nap around lunchtime, then you always take a good 2+ hour nap around 2.  You are still sleeping 12 hours at night, which is wonderful!!!!  Sometimes you wake up around 3, you might cry for 10 or 15 seconds, then you go right back to sleep.  We are very thankful that you sleep so good!

We start getting you ready for bed around 6:30 and then wake you up at 6.  On the weekends you'll sleep till 7:30 or 8. You move around a lot at night.

Sometimes you sleep on your stomach,  but most of the time you sleep on your back with your hands by your head.

We usually go in and peak at your before bed. We just stare at you and marvel.  Of course we think you are the cutest thing.  Then  we laugh at how you have moved your animals around.   Sometimes you are just so cute that we pick you up and give you a quick squeeze, then put you back down.  You always go right back to sleep.

Fruit seems to be your favorite food.  You still love sweet potatoes, squash, corn, and carrots.  We have to sneak other veggies in with fruit.  We like to give you tastes of table food.

Somehow you leaned how to chew.

You like pizza sauce, but gave some funny faces with jumbalya.  You will eat puffs, but seem to think it is more fun to give them to Maggie.  You are still a little uncoordinated putting them in your mouth, but it won't be long.

Sophie, the giraffe, is a favorite.

I tried to take Harper's 8 month picture one afternoon by myself.  It was Miss Kristen's birthday that day so we were sportin the birthday dress to school.

So in a matter of a minute she smiled for me once, then managed to quickly make her way off the chair.  She is getting pretty fast.  Remote Controls seem to be the thing she always goes after.

Harps, you are such a happy baby.   You love to laugh and smile and just bring such joy to our lives.  We love you sweet girl!!!

7 Months

This was by far my favorite month!!!  Harper you have been so much fun!! We are starting to see little glimpses of your personality and my goodness you are so fun!!!
"Punky" has been your nickname lately.  I guess it came from spunky because you have quite the spunky personality.  It also matches your new spikey hair!!!  It sticks straight up on the top, but then you still have that original patch of dark hair in the back.  Everyone keeps saying your hair will be blonde.  I don't know, we are thinking it will be brownish red.
You seem to have some stubborness about you, which I honestly love.  You know what you want and you aren't afraid to voice your opinion to get it.  You will throw your head back, scream,  grunt, and do whatever you need to do to vent your frustration.  Yes, this may lead to plenty of fits as you get older but as an adult I know you will always go for your dreams and never let anything get in your way, and that makes me happy!
Mimi got to take care of you while we to to Arizona for the national championship.  Our 5 day trip ended up being a week because of snow and ice.  We missed you a lot, but enjoyed our time alone together and with our friends Matt & Sally.  Your second tooth came in on the bottom while we were gone.  You look so cute with those two little teeth.
You started this hugging thing. It is so cute. You grab our face and lean in towards us.  I love it!!! It is so sweet! It is so fun picking you up in the afternoon because you get so excited and always give me the biggest sweetest smile.   You still give those open mouth smiles, and we love it.
You are a crazy woman in bed.  When we get you up we never know what the bed will look like and what way you will be facing.  You like to move around and pull all the stuffed animals in close to you.

You have finally mastered eating!!!  You eat oatmeal with a few spoonfuls of fruit in the morning. Then for lunch you have a vegetable and a fruit and dinner is a veggie and a meat.  You are also taking four
6 ounce botttles a day.  We are learning that you are quite the picky eater.  You will eat something fine and then all of a sudden you don't like it and refuse to open your mouth.  You do love peaches and sweet potatoes.  Fruit seems to be your favorite thing.  I don't think we have found a fruit that you don't like.
Always, always grabbing things.  You rarely have your hands empty.

Yes, that is crusted sweet potatoes on your nose...
I love that you still put your hands on your head when you are tired.  It is so cute and such an easy sign for us to know you are ready for bed.  As soon as we lay you in bed your hands immediately go to your head.
Mimi worked really hard on getting you to sit up.  You finally mastered it soon after we got home.  We can now plop you down on the floor with a toy and you will sit and sit and sit.  Yes,  you have fallen and bumped your head a few times, but I guess your hard headedness ( is that a word??)  comes in handy because you never cry.  You usually fall over because you are leaning over trying to get a toy, but lately you have figured out that you can just roll over and over to get to toys.

I know we keep saying this but you keep getting more and more fun each month (and easier).  We love watching you discover new things in your little world.   We love you sweet punky!!!

so...

I'll blame it on the card reader for lack of posts.  We had an awesome time in Arizona.  Took over 500 pictures and 1100 miles on the rental car.  It was a much needed vacation for us and a BLAST!!!  The problem is we can't seem to get the pictures off my camera.  You see for Christmas Santa gave me a fancy new camera.  I love it and have taken a bazillion pics but, we have had a hard time getting card readers to show up on the mac.  Yes, I was able to get the Christmas pictures, but I am a little more nervous about the pics from Glendale.  Specifically because I got a video of the crowd from the intro All I do is win song.  Yes, it was one of my favorite moments of the game and I don't want to loose that video.  So, I am hoping that Ryan remembers to stop by Walle World on the way home to get a new memory card. Harps and I are hanging out watching The Bachelor from last night.  So, for now I have no pictures and  Harper has moved to  the swing and has just chunked her paci at me.   I guess she is tired of her swing and I have no idea what we are having for dinner.  I promise to post some pics later and give an update from our 6 month checkup today.
Here are some pics from the Kidz Closet photoshoot.  This was the day before her first tooth came in, so  the fingers would not stay out of the mouth!!!
Toodles...
