Slacker
I'm a slacker. I know. It has been almost 2 months since the last post. Sorry. We had an exciting November, Catherine and Josh have moved!!! They finally live 7.3 miles from us!!! I am so excited!!! It was so hard only seeing Jacob every few months. I just felt like I missed so much and he really didn't know who I was. That has all changed!!! It melts my heart when that big boy greets me by running towards me with open arms. It just makes my day!! Here are some pictures of the 2 weeks they stayed with us in between houses.
We made lots of tents,
watched a little football,
and had lots of fun!!!
WE LOVE YOU JACOB!!!

What's Your Style??
The past 2 months I have been trying to figure out how I want to decorate our new house. I have no decorating talent whatsoever, so thank goodness mom loves to decorate and is FREE!
When we started looking at pictures, fabrics, furniture, etc I seemed to favor the more modern look than the traditional look in the old house. Since my budget loving husband says I can't purchase all new furniture, I am just going to have to blend the traditioanl with the modern.
Click on it to take a short quiz to find out about your style personality.
Here's a snapshot of my style

Here's the fabric mom is going to use to make some curtains in the kitchen.
I LOVE IT!!!

The Millers came in town a few weeks ago to help us paint. I'll have to post those pictures later, but we got the trim, molding, and walls done in the kitchen and den. I love it! It is amazing what a coat of paint can do!!

Seasons of Life
I have always heard the "season of life" saying, but I didn't really understand it until recently. We will all experience different seasons of life. No matter what our season is we have one thing in common and that is that He loves us. He loves us.
I love this song by Hillsong called Desert Song. I love every word of it.
"This is my prayer in the desert,
When all that's within me feels dry,
This is my prayer in my hunger and need,
My God is the God who provides,
And this is my prayer in the fire,
In weakness, or trial, or pain,
There is a faith proved more worth than gold,
So refine me Lord through the flame,
I will bring praise,
I will bring praise,
No weapon formed against me shall remain,
I will rejoice, I will declare,
God is my victory and He is here,
This is my prayer in the battle,
When triumph is still on its way,
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ,
So firm on his promise I'll stand,
All of my life, in every season,
You are still God,
I have a reason to sing,
I have a reason to worship,
And this is my prayer in the harvest,
When favour and providence flow,
I know I'm filled to be emptied again,
The seed I receive I will sow"
I hope that we will use this blog to share a little bit about us, and our different seasons of life. I want us to be able to look back 50 years from now at the stories and pictures and smile at each and every season of life.
"All of my life, in every season,
You are still God,I have a reason to sing,
I have a reason to worship!!!"

Goodbye Summer
It took a few weeks for Maggie to get used to things. She did not know what to do on the hardwoods. She spent the first few weeks upstairs on the carpet. I think she is finally getting used to everything. Here's a pic of her in her favorite spot. There is an outside cat across the street, so she spends most of her day staring the cat down.
The end of summer brings our other favorite time of year. Ryan, Catherine, Josh, and I traveled to the plains for the game.
I don't think this lady minded staying home with the little guy.

Down by the creek
We decided to take a break from packing and take Maggie to Buck Creek on Saturday. We used to do this all the time, but we have been so busy lately that I think she has missed swimming in the water. This is my fist try and uploading video, so hopefully it will work.
Video of Maggie getting her workout on the Treadmill.
She loves to dive for rocks.
Buck Creek just makes me feel like I'm way out in the country. It reminds me of a Kenny Chesney country song. While we were there some boys were swinging on the rope swing. This was just the perfect picture of a gorgeous summer afternoon!!!

First fruits
Bell pepper, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini, and jalopeno pepper
Things are growing like crazy!! It is so nice to just walk out and pull off something to have with dinner. This is the first year I've done lettuce and it has been wonderful. I know for sure I will plant more of it next year. Hopefully the squash will be ready by the end of the week.
Ryan and I took this little cutie to the pool on Saturday. We realized it might be our last summer with the neighborhood pool, so we are trying to take advantage of it.
It is a lot more fun to have someone to play with rather than just laying out. Hopefully we will have many more trips to the pool this summer!

The letter
The letter came in the mail last week addressed to me on very nice letterhead. It stated how I hadn't visited in a while and they missed me. How nice of them to notice. Yes, we had been a little busy lately, and I did really miss my daily visit. So this morning I packed my bag and headed over after work. I walked in said hello and began to notice some of the changes since April.
Here are a few things I noticed and observed:
1. Every boy under the age of 20 was wearing a colored wife beater. Yes colored. Red, Gray, Black, mostly black. I sure hope this is not a new trend.
2. Every person over the age of 70 was wearing pants, long sleeves, and a jacket. My how things change from 20-75
3. I don't really like my exercise playlist anymore. I'm tired of all the rap, rock, and hip hop songs. The only thing that worked good for me was Hillsong and Third Day.
4. I need new running shoes
5. My knee popped a few times. Am I getting old?
6. There should be a required dress code. I do not like those short running shorts on men. They just look funny.
7. There should be directions posted on how to work the rowing machine. I really want to use it, but I can't figure it out.
8. I missed my old friends that I saw every afternoon. Even though I had never had conversations with many of them, I was nice to smile and say hello.
Thank you YMCA for caring enough about me to send me a letter, see you again tomorrow.

Time Keeps on Tickin...
Okay so I realized it has been forever since I posted. Sorry. Things have been a little busy the last few months. Here is a brief overview of a few events.

I finally got to plant the summer vegetables last weekend. Here is a list of what I have so far. I am a little worried about which ones will actually make it. The vegetables were pretty picked over at my nursery. They actually looked better at Wal-Mart, but I just couldn't buy them from Wal-Mart. That's weird!! I planted Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Green Peppers, Squash, Zucchini, Eggplant, Basil, Rosemary, Parsley. New this year is 2 different kinds of lettuce and Ryan wanted some type of spicy pepper. I really hope the lettuce works. Something about picking my lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers to put on a salad just makes me happy! I didn't do as much of a variety this year, but I planted a few plants of everything so that we'd have a lot to share.
We have also packed up A LOT of these. For the past 2 months I have TiVoed every staging show on HGTV. We are now the proud owners of a 10 X 10 climate controlled storage unit. Very exciting!! We have spent every free moment we have filling it up and doing some other projects.
The tool box has become a part of our living room furniture lately. We have installed new faucets in all the sinks and replaced all the light fixtures. I am hoping to get some painting done next week. We are very eager to put it on the market very soon. Right now we are just trying to decide whether we want to do it ourselves or get a realtor. Hopefully, by my next post it will be on the market!!
Ryan and I took a few days off and joined the Millers at the lake Easter weekend.

We decorated the lakehouse and celebrated Dan's final chemo on Thursday!!!
No, that is not Icabob Crane. Dan spent the weekend bundled up. He says that chemo makes him very sensitive to cold.
Maggie and her Cousin Otis spent all day running and playing in the water. They were both very tired at the end of the day.

For the pet lovers
We went and saw Marley & Me last weekend at the dollar movie. It was a good movie, but made me love on Maggie a little more. After the movie I let her snuggle with me on the normally forbidden couch. She didn't quite know what to think or what to do.
Check out this blog for directions on how to print a $20 voucher to be used with your vet bill.
I hope you love on your pet a little more today.

The stache
As you can tell from the previous post, Ryan went on a few hunting trips during the month of January. During this time he seemed to have forgotten how to shave. I don't know if he was just going for the rugged look, or if he thought it helped with the camouflage. He did finally shave after hunting season was over. I always enjoy the fun we have when he shaves his beard. Here are a few pics from the different "looks" of Ryan.
Ryan decided to wear the mustache to work. This time he seemed to be trying to fit in with the surroundings in Bessemer.

A little fun and a little work
Here are a few pics from my trip to the Florida Educational Technology Conference in Orlando. I had a fabulous trip and learned A LOT!!! I walked away very overwhelmed, yet excited. My favorite part was being with the other technology specialist in the system. We don't get to see each other very often, but when we do, we have a blast! Thanks ladies for a wonderful trip and for all the laughs!!

Davis Neely
We spent the past weekend with them at the farm in Blount Springs. It was very very cold so we didn't get out much. The guys braved the cold and hunted. Jenn and I did get out and chase the cows in the four wheeler and we even had some snow flurries. Maggie enjoyed playing chicken with the cows. She didn't really understand why they wouldn't chase her. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend just hanging out.
