On the Plains

We took a weekend trip to Auburn back in the end of February. We had been wanting to go to a basketball game all season and found a weekend where there was a basketball game and the first home baseball game. So we headed down and spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the baseball park. It was the first weekend of spring like weather. I was so thankful we got to spend so much time outdoors.

Then we walked over the the coliseum for a basketball game. I am glad we got to go since it was the last season in the coliseum. Auburn was actually good in basketball when we were there. We got student season tickets for a few years and enjoyed many good games in the coliseum.

We were able to bring Maggie with us on the trip. Apparently the conference center allows your pets to stay with you, which was fun. At night we took walks around campus.

Picnic lunch

We ended the weekend with a nice picnic lunch in one of the fields. My favorite all time favorite Auburn menu item: Turkey roll up, sweet potato chips, and a side of honey mustard. It was a wonderful relaxing weekend just spending time together. We were so thankful to finally have spring like weather and be able to spend so much time outdoors. Hopefully we can make it back for one more overnight trip and baseball game before peanut comes.

Let it snow

Yes, I am majorly behind in blogging. Honestly this is the last thing I feel like doing when I get home from work. So, we had some snow back in February. We had a horribly cold winter with lots of freezing weather and snow threats. I am not a big fan of the winter months. I do not like winter clothes, coats, and being cold just are not fun to me. We finally had some snow stick. Thank goodness we got out of school early so that we could get outside and play in the snow. We have had Ryan's childhood sled in our attic since we got married and we finally got to use it. We have a nice little hill on our front yard that Ryan and Maggie had fun sledding down. After almost running into the mailbox, I decided one trip down the hill was enough for me.

It's a...

Well we had our big ultrasound last week. And no, we did not find out what it is... I promise. Although Ryan did almost cave in at the last minute, thank goodness one of us stayed strong.

Peanut looked perfect, absolutely perfect. We enjoyed seeing every part of him; heart chambers, kidneys, stomach, ribs, fingers, toes, stomach, diaphragm, brain, etc. It is amazing what all they can see with those machines. It is true that you really do become so focused on the being sure that everything is okay that you forget about the finding out part. She obviously did not want us to find out either because the technician was even having a hard time finding her feet. She said she probably would of had a hard time finding it anyway because he was hiding everything.

Ryan seems to think that it is a girl since we didn't see anything. I'm just going to let him think that. Oh, and I have and will continue to use "he" and "she." I don't really want to call it an "it" so we have just started calling it both he and she.
The technician switched the machine over to 4D to try to find the feet. Then she moved it up to peanut's face to try to get a good profile shot. Interesting picture. As Ryan said "it looks like a cat." So there it is folks our precious little peanut has now grown into a cat.

Will & Hoke

Our precious nephews Will & Hoke were born February 3rd. We were so excited to spend the day with them. Ginny and boys are doing great and we can't wait to watch them grow up!

a little wave

Peanut decided to wave at us this morning. He/she was moving and flipping all around. Everything looks good, so they will do the big reveal ultrasound next visit. We aren't going to find out, or we might and just not tell anyone. Ha Ha that would be fun!!!

just arrived...

Look what just arrived on my door step...safely. I am very excited about this new "book." I have heard so many people go on and on about it. No, it is not a another cookbook to add to the collection. It is a book. A beautiful book with beautiful pictures, words, and yes beautiful food. Yes, Ryan we did just send a box of cookbooks to Salvation Army, but this one is different, I promise. I promise to share any recipes that I find shareworthy. No, Maggie did not chew up this package. We did manage to chase down the big brown truck and convince the delivery lady to put packages inside the storm door. This package didn't quite make it inside the door. But Maggie held off her temptation, thank goodness. I do need to post some pictures of the Merrill shoes she did manage to get a hold of. Do you think she knows that things might be changing in a few months???

Favorite moment of 2009...

was hearing peanut's heartbeat!!! That's right, WE'RE PREGNANT!! I know many of you never thought this day would come. Yes, we finally decided to start our own little family. Little peanut is scheduled to arrive around July 7th and we are very excited.

Things are going good so far. The first trimester consisted of 24 hour nausea, eating lots of cold fruit, a short stint of bed rest, and regularly scheduled Wednesday night trips to hang my head over the toilet. Thank goodness the nausea stopped just in time for Christmas! I am very thankful to be eating normal and cooking dinner again. I hadn't cooked a meal since Thanksgiving and I think Ryan was getting a little tired of fishing through the pantry every night.

I am going to try to post more often this new year. There were so many things that happened last fall that I just didn't take the time to post, and more than anything I want this to be a journal of our life that we can look back on. So one of my goals for the new year is to try to post once a week.

We go back for another ultrasound in about 2 weeks and I can't wait to see how much peanut has grown and hear that little heartbeat!
